I report for KTOO in Juneau, Alaska. I cover city government, housing, education, tourism and Alaska Native governance. I've covered the rising number of tourists straining Juneau's public transportation system, the debate over the future of a historic neighborhood, a local childcare shortage and Skagway railroad workers considering a strike during a record tourist season.
My story on a legal dispute over a tribal government's efforts to protect traditional lands aired on National Native News. I also covered statewide education issues during the 2023 legislative session, including public school funding and efforts to limit the rights of Alaska's LGBTQ+ students.
In 2022, my story about an Alaska Native language spelling bee was featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and Weekend Edition and earned first place for best culture reporting from the Alaska Press Club.
I graduated from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in May 2021. My master's project was an audio piece on efforts to increase diversity at New York's specialized high schools, and I received the Fred M. Hechinger Education Journalism Award.
